KEY ISSUES Congratulations: to Bishop James on his nomination as the next Bishop of Rochester. We wish him and Bridget and the family every happinness in their new home and Diocese. to Castle Acre School on the occasion of the formal opening of the new school by Bishop Graham of Norwich on 21 June. We wish them every success as they go forward with this wonderful new resource. to the England football team in surviving the first round of the World Cup in South Africa. Thankyous: This is the time of the year when many village organizations put on fetes and barbecues to support their activities. A big thank you to all those who work behind the scenes to make these events possible for our communities. Let their example inspire the rest of us to pitch in and help make our communities lively and interesting places to live in. Whether it is the church or a village organization or a sporting activity we need people/you to participate to keep these things alive – join in and help strengthen your community Concerns: The Budget news of this week will affect all of us in different ways. Undoubtedly there was a need to re-establish confidence in our economy world wide. But we need also to ensure that we are a society that has a concern for the vulnerable and disadvantaged. The future sustainability of our churches – both in human resource and finance. For the last three years our income as a Group to enable us to sustain our present ministry and buildings has fallen short by £10,000. Please, even in these difficult times could you make a regular weekly donation to support the church’s ministry, speak with the churchwardens, treasurers or myself. Stuart Nairn
