First Word - December

An Invitation to come and celebrate not once, but three times: On 18 December at 7pm in St. James the Great Church Castle Acre the churchwardens of the Group invite you to join with me at a sung eucharist as I celebrate 40 years as a priest. I was ordained deacon in East Dereham Church and then priested in Upper Sheringham Church. Of those 40 years nearly 30 of them have been lived out in one form or another here in the Nar Valley Group. As I consecrate those years to God’s mercy we come to pray for the time that is ahead that he will take us and bless us and use us in his service. An invitation to join with the Christian Community of these villages to rejoice again at the truth that God is made known to us not in a palace royal but in a birth in a stable and is made known week by week in bread and wine and the breaking open of his Word. Join with us at the Midnight Mass of the Nativity at Narborough at 11.30pm on Christmas Eve or at any of the services on Christmas Day through to the Feast of the Epiphany on 7 January as we celebrate anew his birth at Bethlehem – details in the middle pull out section. The third invitation is to join with us and the Bishop of Norwich on 18 February 2018 at a Group Eucharist presided over by the Bishop as we celebrate 21 years of the Nar Valley Group’s Life and Journey. After the service we join with the Bishop for a sit down lunch in the Assembly Rooms at Swaffham. Further details in our churches in January – we aim to keep the cost to £ 15 per person please put the date in your diary and give thanks for the new life we have discovered in working together and supporting each other. Call the Church Office 01760 338562 to book a ticket for the lunch. Rejoice, again I say rejoice, for God has come amongst us as one of us. We wish you a Holy Christmas and a New Year of Peace and Joy. Stuart Nairn
